About the release
The 8.1.0 release is the third update for Datto RMM in 2020. Along with numerous fixes and improvements, some of the highlights are:
- SNMP monitors now have tabular OID support to raise independent alerts against multiple discovered SNMP table instances from a single monitor definition. Refer to SNMP Monitor.
- SNMP monitors now support fetching live values during configuration when set at the device level for validation purposes. Refer to SNMP Monitor.
- Scheduled jobs can now be created in the New UI BETA using a redesigned interface. Refer to Scheduled jobs - New UI.
- The Show Me How button is now available in the New UI BETA. You can click the button in the existing interface or the New UI BETA to learn how to use new and existing features, access best practice guidance, and more. Refer to Show Me How.
System requirement changes for Network Nodes with SNMP monitoring
With the 8.1.0 release, we are introducing more advanced SNMP monitoring capabilities. An SNMP monitor can now monitor values in SNMP tables. This will make monitoring significantly more powerful if a device has (for example) multiple disks, interfaces, controllers, or fans.
As part of this change, system requirements for Agents acting as a Network Node with SNMP monitors have changed:
IMPORTANT Agents that act as Network Nodes and use SNMP monitors will need to be compatible with the Microsoft .NET Core runtime.
.NET Core is part of all modern Windows operating systems without any changes and will run on most legacy operating systems with either a patch (KB2533623) or the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 installed. Detailed requirements and dependencies are available at this Microsoft website.
.NET Core also runs on Linux and macOS. System requirements have not changed for these operating systems since these Agents already use .NET Core to function.
SNMP monitors configured on Network Nodes that do not support this change will automatically raise an alert in order to bring the issue to attention. The alert raised is worded as follows: “{Snmp|SnmpThroughput} monitor only supported on NetCore runtime”.
No changes are required for devices that do not use SNMP monitoring.
Refer to Network Node requirements for SNMP monitoring.
